artist's statement

I am interested in how the media creates shame, seduction, falsity and absurdity by artificially linking beauty to objects, identity and sexuality, consequently turning these things into an excessive and contrived commodity.

Through a range of media referencing consumer imagery, cultural fascinations and art history, my work explores the paradoxical aspects of beauty, the elusiveness of authentic sexuality, the commoditization of multiples, loss and desire.

Performing and staging my body, I fashion myself into a "ready-made" — an exaggerated reproduction of archetypal ideals — to parody cultural phenomena and uncover the remaining vestiges of personal identity and authenticity, thus examining the polarities of experience in which we all exist.
